To add more life and variety to the commercial areas of my map project, I recreated the standard Lidl entrance totem. This is a common sight across Romania, and having an accurate 3D version grounds the simulation in reality.
The model was built from scratch in Blender, focusing on clean lines and correct proportions. Gimp was used to create the branding textures, ensuring the logo colors and the operating hours panel match the real-world reference. A key focus was material balance—capturing the slight gloss of the acrylic sign against the matte finish of the metal support pillar.
A big emphasis was placed on the day/night cycle. I created custom emissive masks so the Lidl logo glows realistically at night, complete with subtle light diffusion. Fully optimized for ETS2, the asset features clean topology and custom baked Ambient Occlusion for a seamless integration in the game engine.
