As part of my ongoing project to recreate realistic roadside infrastructure for RoMapProject, I built this standard OMV entrance totem from scratch. This asset serves as an important visual landmark along highways and main roads, helping to ground the simulation in reality.
The project was an exercise in capturing precise corporate branding guidelines and smooth geometric curves. Modeled in Blender and textured in Gimp, the workflow focused on achieving a clean PBR material balance between the semi-matte steel frame of the pillar and the high-contrast corporate colors of the sign panels.
Key Technical Highlights:
Day/Night Cycle Support: Fully configured with custom emissive masks to allow the OMV logo and display panels to glow realistically during night routes, mimicking real-world backlit signage.
Optimization: Developed with a low-poly budget and clean topology to maintain optimal game performance in Euro Truck Simulator 2 while preserving smooth curved edges.
Grounded Visuals: Includes custom baked Ambient Occlusion maps to guarantee realistic contact shadows and depth within the simulation engine.
